I am incredibly passionate about helping individuals heal and grow and providing high-quality services to my clients and their families. I truly believe that psychotherapy works and is a powerful method for healing, growth, change and self-acceptance. I value the courage it takes to seek out help and I am committed to developing strong, warm and encouraging therapeutic relationships with my clients. I try to make the counseling and coaching experience rewarding and interactive!
Experience and Education
I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (L.C.P.C.) in the state of Maryland. I am a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC) by the National Board of Certified Counselors. I obtained a Master of Science degree in Clinical Community Counseling/Mental Health Psychology from Johns Hopkins University. I also hold a B.S. degree in Family Science from the University of Maryland. I am a member of the American Counseling Association (ACA).
Building my psychotherapy private practice has been an incredibly enjoyable experience for me. Previously, I provided psychotherapy and mental healthcare services for clients of all ages at Vesta, Inc., an outpatient mental health clinic located in Silver Spring, Maryland. There, I was responsible for conducting biopsychosocial assessments and intake diagnostic evaluations and providing psychotherapy for individuals, couples and families with mental health concerns and/or chronic mental illness. To supplement my work as a psychotherapist in private practice, I continue to provide offsite psychotherapy for Vesta, Inc. clients on a part-time basis and I enjoy this work very much.
I also have experience working as a preschool teacher and as a guidance counseling assistant for elementary school students in the Montgomery County School System in Maryland. As a guidance counseling assistant, I supported students individually, led small groups for students struggling with social skills, anger management, learning disabilities and anxiety and facilitated classroom lessons on topics such as self-expression, bullying, conflict resolution, coping skills and others.
My belief is that I cannot help my clients unless I continue to do my own personal work, have a healthy support system and make time for my own growing, learning, reflection and self-care on a daily basis.
