Experience and Education

I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (L.C.P.C.) in the state of Maryland and a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC) by the National Board of Certified Counselors. I obtained a Master of Science degree in Clinical Community Counseling/Mental Health Psychology from Johns Hopkins University. I hold a B.S. degree in Family Science from the University of Maryland. I have completed significant coursework in early childhood education, adult attachment and relationships, family dynamics, anxiety treatment, mindfulness, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).  I have completed Level 1 Training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy.  I am a member of the American Counseling Association (ACA).

I am a relationship expert and writer for DatingAdvice.com and eHarmony Advice. I frequently write about healthy relationships, dating and relationship anxiety, self-care, dating tips, mindful dating, self-esteem, breakups, attraction, communication and other topics pertaining to love, relationships, intimacy, dating and mental health.

I have been interviewed, featured and quoted in a variety of media outlets, online publications, podcasts and radio shows. My writing has also been featured on numerous websites. Click here to view press information and access links.

I co-authored an Amazon International Best Selling book, Sexy Secrets to a Juicy Love Life (March 2014), with other psychotherapists, psychologists, relationship and love experts, life coaches, dating coaches and matchmakers.

I truly enjoy working with individuals and couples through my private practice. Previously, I provided psychotherapy and mental healthcare services for clients of all ages at Vesta, Inc., an outpatient mental health clinic located in Silver Spring, Maryland. There, I was responsible for conducting biopsychosocial assessments and intake diagnostic evaluations and providing psychotherapy for individuals, couples and families with mental health concerns and/or chronic mental illness.

More about me…

My belief is that I cannot help my clients unless I continue to do my own personal work, have a healthy support system and make time for my own growing, learning, reflection and self-care on a daily basis. Art, dance, Zumba, running, reading, journaling, mindfulness practices, quality time with family and friends, and healthy eating enrich my life and keep me energized, happy and balanced.
